House League Registrations DUE September 15th
It's time to register for the Masco Youth Hockey House League program. Forms are here.
The House League developmental program focuses on skill development and small area games. House League also prepares kids to play at the next level, a travel team. Children are typically age 5-8 years old. If you have a child ready for the House League program, please complete the registration form and remit ASAP with your deposit.
If you know of a friend or neighbor who has children ready for House League, please forward this information to them. The House League is the foundation for the future of our program and we want to expose as many children as possible to the great game of hockey.
If you have any questions about House League, please contact Doug Brooke at 978.887.3522. Schedules are here.
Learn to Skate – FIRST SESSION IS FREE (October 4th) – SPREAD THE WORD
The first Learn to Skate (LTS) session will be held on 10/4 and is FREE! LTS runs from October - December and is held for kids who have never tried skating or are still trying to find their balance. A helmet (HECC approved full mask hockey helmet or bike helmet) is required. There will also be skates available to use.
LTS is held at the Haverhill Valley Forum Rink in the Ward Hill Business Park (15-20 minute drive) on Saturdays at 12:40 PM. Walk-ins are welcome but we’d appreciate it if you would submit a registration in advance or notify Tiger Holland at 978/887-0705 about your intention to come out so we can be sure to have plenty of treats on hand!
Stay after the skate to watch an actual MYH game and see how far kids progress in a few short seasons. The MYH Mite 4 team will be playing the Methuen Mite 3 team immediately after the LTS session. Learn more by visiting here.
Skate Drive – Got Skates??
Is your basement starting to look like a skate shop? We can fix that! Masco Youth Hockey will be collecting used youth hockey skates and donating them to new skaters in our Learn To Skate Program.
We will be accepting youth skates sizes 2 or smaller. A skate donation box will be set up in the Ward Hill lobby each Thursday for the month of September. Read more about the program here.
Please direct any questions to Al Rosenbaum Al.Rosenbaum@logicbay.com or Deb Bargman nbargman@comcast.net.
PHOTO DAY – October 19th at Spofford School, Boxford
Mark your calendar for individual and team photos on October 19th at the Spofford Elementary School in Boxford. All players should dress in their full team (black) uniform including hockey stick and skates. A helmet is not needed.
Coach’s skate
The Coach’s Skate schedule is now posted here on the website. Skates are held at Governor’s Academy on Wednesdays at 9:30 PM and begin on 10/22. All coaches are invited to participate in the weekly Coach’s Skate. These skates are great for building community and they provide an opportunity to meet coaches from other levels. Come join us and get in a great workout in the process! The cost is $15 per skate.

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH
Mark Panella is the September Volunteer of the Month. Mark is a native tri-towner who played for Masco High School. He is an invaluable member of the MYH community as he has coached at every level and has had too many stints on the Board to count. Most recently he served as the chairman of tryouts/rostering and is in charge of MYH’s insurance. That’s not all because his biggest asset to the Board, and our program as a whole, is his many years of experience in youth hockey. The Board is able to call upon his experience and knowledge of the past for guidance when faced with tough issues. The Board and the program are grateful for all Mark has done and for his hard work and years of service and dedication.
