Organization

The MASCO Youth Hockey (MYH) Association was formally organized in the fall of 1971.  A 15 member Board of Directors which consists of four members each from Boxford, Middleton, and Topsfield and three members at large, is responsible for the general planning and supervision of the program.  The Board of Directors is elected by general membership at the MASCO Youth Hockey Annual Meeting held each April.

Commitment

MYH provides children residing in Boxford, Middleton, and Topsfield with the opportunity to skate in an organized program.  MYH is dedicated to the education of our children thought he guidance of their mental, emotional, and physical well-being in a competitive experience.  There is an abiding commitment to the promotion of each child's positive self-image and to the enjoyment of this athletic activity.  The program's philosophy emphasizes the value of teamwork, discipline, integrity, leadership, sportsmanship and tolerance of one's own as well as other's abilities and limitations.

Philosophy

The major goals of the MASCO Youth Hockey Association are:

  • to foster and assist the social, emotional and physical growth of the youth of Boxford, Middleton, and Topsfield through instruction in he sport of hockey

  • to provide an opportunity for anyone to play hockey in a competitive environment

  • to allow players to advance their hockey skill development

Although the sport, by its very nature, is fast and competitive, all players have an opportunity to participate at their skill level.  We especially do not want to subject players to high-pressure situations.  Our coaches, therefore, are carefully selected to help us achieve this objective.  the MASCO Youth Hockey Association believes most of all, that hockey should be fun.  We ask that parents work with us to reinforce this philosophy.
