Masco Youth Hockey House League Program
The Masconomet Youth Hockey (MYH) program annually has
approximately 100 children age 8 and under. With so many children participating,
MYH provides a House League for the younger children who were starting
to learn to play hockey. This program eases their transition into a
traveling team while providing the structure and coaching necessary
to allow them
to play at the next level.
The House League is made up of four teams that practice with and play against each other. The season starts with tryouts at the end of September and ends in March with a banquet for all the teams and parents. Because of the close-knit nature of the House League program, you will find that many children (and adults) develop lasting friendships.
For those of you who choose to participate, we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
House League Mission Statement:
The House League program is intended to provide a fun environment for the instruction and development of children as well as coaches so that they may be better prepared to enter the Masco Youth Hockey Travel program.

Guidelines for determining if a player is eligible or should play at the house league level.
If you meet both criteria, you are required to play at least one season in the House League:
1. Has been on skates for 1 season or less
2. 7 years of age or younger.
If you meet either criteria, you have the option to tryout (tryouts are in March) for a travel team:
1. Has been skating for at least 2 years.
2. If you are 8 years old or older and have skated for at least one season.
Obviously the goal here is to place the child in the best situation given their abilities. Parent consultation with the ACE Coordinator and the appropriate Level Director should be used to determine if putting a child on a travel team is the best decision for that child.
Coaches:
All head coaches and assistant coaches must be patched at Level One or higher by the end of December 31, 2003.

All children, by the end of the season, will have been instructed and should be proficient in the following areas:

-
