Program Overview

Over 150 Tri-Town children play in the MYH program, with ages ranging from four to sixteen. Most children begin learning to skate from the ages of four to eight and MYH provides these beginning hockey players with an excellent developmental program that provides them with basic skills. Once the player completes the developmental program they are placed on a travel team that is compatible with their ability level. As time passes, players will move from Mites to Squirts to Pee Wees to Bantams and finally on to Midgets. If your child moves into town, or starts hockey at an older age we can work with you to find the right place for them. All levels are co-ed, but there is also the option for female players to join the Lady Chieftain all - girl developmental program.

MYH Travel Teams play in the Valley League and the season runs from September to April. A typical week for a travel team player consists of two weekday practices, a weekday skills practice and one or two weekend game. MYH primarily holds practices at the Essex Sports Center Rink (Middleton) or Haverhill Valley Forum (Haverhill).

Travel teams are entered into the Valley League according to each team's experience and skill level, and adjustments are made through parity to ensure that divisions are balanced. Games are generally scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays, although weeknight games are prevalent at the older levels.

The Lady Chieftains play in the MYGHL and the season runs from September to April, with one team practice and one skills session a week and a 25 game season.  Their games are on the weekends and practices at Essex Sports Center Rink.
