TRYOUTS BEGIN TUESDAY 3/21

TRYOUTS 2023-2024 SEASON

Board of Directors has finalized our tryout dates. All tryout sessions will be held at Essex on consecutive Tuesdays and Thursdays in mid/late March (Lady Chieftains will be a one night tryout Monday March 27th). Please note the dates below and the level of play for each time slot.

Although there are many points of data the Rostering Committee will consider, tryouts are a significant part of our evaluation process for our teams. Typically, the first session is focused on hockey skills and the second session is focused on game play. Below are our guidelines for rostering players

We utilize third party evaluators as well as coaches at all levels.

NO Coach/Board Member is allowed to evaluate ANY player at a level where they have a child playing.

Roster Committee uses coaches evaluations and two night tryout scores to evaluate players.

Coaches evaluations are weighted against the two nights tryout scores.

Any Coach who has a child on that team, the coaches score for their child is not used for evaluations (score is thrown out)

Overall level participation (the number of total players) determines rosters - we typically have a heavier roster size for the lower team to allow for call ups throughout the season. Per league policy players can not play down at any level (except goalies)

Please refer to our policies and procedures section of MASCO website for full tryout policy

Our 2023-2024 tryout registration link should be active in the next few days and we will share it once it is up and running. Please note there is a $50 non-refundable fee for each player, which will offset your tuition balance if you accept a roster spot.

7:40pm – Pee Wees (BY 2011, 2012)

Mite Development Information

Dear Parents:

We are excited to have another successful year of the MYH's Mite Development Program held at the Endicott Rink this year. Below is a brief summary of what to expect each week.

Saturday (Skills/Practice)

There will be a Learn to Play Director at the rink on Saturdays to run skills along with the coaches of each team weekly – the coaches have been provided station-based practice plans that will be rotated throughout the season.

Sunday (Games)

There will be no Learn to Play Director at games and it is the coach's responsibility to be sure the teams are ready and able to play on-time as well as assist in setrinf up the bumpers for each game. There will be an assigned timekeeper to run the buzzer and time. The kids will play on rotation so everyone has equal ice time.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our MD Director, Ryan Dauwer or myself.

Sincerely,

Crystal DiBartolomeo

Mite Development Black X-ICE 2022 – 2023 Season

Mite Development season begins this weekend at Endicott College – Ray Bourque Arena, 300 Hale St, Beverly, MA 01915.

Season Details

Time & Schedule – Saturday 9am & Sunday 8:40am - 50-minute hours. The season runs through March 5th. MASCO website will be publishing the schedule and you will be able to download into your family calendar to your phone. There may be a “BYE” weekend based on number of teams participating. NOTE: Unless a holiday (Christmas/New Year’s) fall on a specific day there will be ice. College/Valley League decide if arena is closed for snow and communication will be sent out

Teams – There are 8 total teams registered (one from Beverly, Danvers and Peabody, two from Marblehead and three from MASCO).

On Valley League website - http://valleyhockeyleague.com/pages/sche... - you can also view the schedule

Team 1 is LTP1, Team 2 is LTP2 & Team 3 is LTP3

Saturday is a skills practice where pre-determined skills for skating, shooting, passing and small area games are involved, and teams rotate around the ice. Coaches will be provided a hard copy of drills to run teams through. At this level it is all about fun and getting the kids to understand basic skills.

Sunday games are played cross-ice (from boards to boards) three games running simultaneously) where four players (including a goalie) play for 2-minute shifts, buzzer sounds – next group come on. Everyone plays every position, and no goalie gear is required. Coaches are expected to run games and keep pucks within their 1/3 of the ice. Additionally, it is helpful to have a coach/parent on the bench to assist players getting on and off the ice. At this level it is all about fun and getting the kids to understand basic skills, therefore we do not keep score.

Equipment - We will provide players with jerseys, all other equipment – pads (elbow, shin, chest and pants), skates, helmet, gloves and stick are required. Any on ice coach is required to wear a helmet at all times.

Going forward our Mite Development Director, Ryan Dauwer, will be leading communication at this level, however you are always welcome to reach out to myself (jayespy@yahoo.com) Crystal DiBartolomeo (cdib918@yahoo.com) – registrar/secretary or any board member (https://www.mascohockey.com) with questions.

Enjoy the season and have fun!!!

Thanks & Go MASCO
